Converting Composite to S-Video is Convenient But Can Often Do More Harm Than Good
Using only S-Video inputs on your AV receiver eliminates the need to switch your TV's inputs every time you switch video sources. Using a composite VCR and an S-video DVD? Even with an AV receiver, you'll still need to change inputs on your TV. Converting ordinary composite video to high resolution S-video often results in picture quality that " gets lost in the translation."
